Alternative Education Center in Odessa, TX joined the world in commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25, 2021, with the theme, "Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!" Students studied world data of women who experienced violence by their intimate partners from 1990 to 2017. They identified and discussed countries that had the highest cases of women violence and the cultural backgrounds of these countries. They also made posters about the celebration and wrote essays about how the event could help meet the global sustainable development goals of gender equality and reduced inequalities.
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women marks the launch of the UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign (Nov 25- Dec 10) — an initiative of 16 days of activism concluding on the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day (10 December). This campaign aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world, calling for global action to increase awareness, promote advocacy, and create opportunities for discussion on challenges and solutions.
