After revising and editing a selection, Flying Boat
Airplane, Alternative Education Center (AEC) students designed a paper model of
a flying boat airplane. The selection describes the first commercial airplane
flight, which was actually a flying boat. Students wrote an essay convincing
readers that their own individual design was the best flying boat. Students shared their
essays with the whole class. Their essays were then sent to their international
learning partners for their partners’ revising and editing activity. This space
education-integrated activity is one of AEC's simple class-based activities for
its entry to the Aerospace Education Excellence Program this school year.
